Identify and Conserve Sea Turtles
The Sea Turtle Awareness Distinctive Specialty course introduces you to basic sea turtle identification and conservation. The goals of Sea Turtle Awareness course training are:
- To familiarize you with the role of Project AWARE in preserving the aquatic environment
- To introduce sea turtle species common in temperate or tropical waters
- To provide the knowledge and skills needed to identify turtles and record sightings
- To inform you about the decline in sea turtle populations, the importance of sea turtles to marine biodiversity and what they can do to reduce the loss of sea turtles worldwide

This course is open to divers who are:
- At least 10 years old
- Certified as a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver level or equivalent
- Able to either answer NO to all questions on the standard Medical History Form or secure a physician’s approval prior to the start of class

This course consists of:
- Self study
- Two open water training dives

Self study takes place at the comfort of your home. Open water dives take place at one of more than 50 dive sites that we have to offer.
PADI Sea Turtle Awareness classes start at any time. Open water training dives are done any day of the week. All activities take place by appointment only.

- All instruction
- Use of air tanks and weights
- Two open water training dives
- Certification card processing
