Technical Diving Evolution
Tec 40 Course
The PADI Tec 40 course is where you transition from recreational scuba diving to technical diving. It’s a great place to start because it’s the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Diver course and bridges the gap between no-stop diving and full technical deep decompression diving. You gain experience and begin building the knowledge and skills you need to continue your tec diver training. You will qualify to make limited decompression dives to 40 metres/130 feet.
Tec 45 Course
The PADI Tec 45 course introduces Tec 40 divers to the first stages of full, technical deep decompression diving. Certified Tec 45 divers are qualified to make multi-stop decompression dives that employ EANx and oxygen for accelerated decompression.
The course not only develops the knowledge and skills to make open circuit technical dives as deep as 45 meters/145 feet, but also begins developing the knowledge and skills you will need at the Tec 50 level and beyond.
Tec 50 Course
The third part of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program is Tec 50. As a Tec 50 diver, you show that you’ve developed competency as a tec diver and have the skills to dive to a maximum of 50 metres/165 feet. You know how to make extended, accelerated decompression stops using up to two gases. It’s not easy to reach this level, and earning your Tec 50 certification opens the door to deeper diving expeditions.
The Tec 45 diver comes to the course with strong knowledge and skill base. The Tec 50 extends these, expanding existing skills with added emphasis on mission planning and execution.
Tec Sidemount Diver Course
Having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Tec Sidemount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting?
